⇜ back to the graveyard
if you live in the Pacific Northwest, then Wild Waves Theme & Water Park needs no introduction. it's one of the only major water parks accessible in WA (unless you want to make the trip out-of-state to Silverwood in idaho).
the Wild Waves of my childhood has had a lot of changes since then. these rides are no longer opperational:
- Gambler - one of my brothers favorites, it was essentially a spinner shaped like a roulette wheel
- Wagon Train - i remember riding this with both my brothers, it's a junior ride but it was very relaxing
- Warming Tubs - near the wave pool there used to be some hot tubs (which i always gravitated towards even in the hot summer sun) but they were covered and closed in 2020
- Ring of Fire - my all time favorite ride, it was a single track loop that would go gradually more around the loop higher and higher until you went all the way around. and then it would go the other way. it was very shakey and i always felt like i would fall out, so i can kinda see why they scrapped it, but i really miss it.
- The Paratrooper - a chill but surprisingly fun ride. it was tilted so you could feel yourself going up and down.
- Tip Top - basically just a tea cup ride, i remember my step-dad spinning it so fast i thought i would fly out.
these ones are still here !!!! for now...
- Wild Thing - the main attraction, and for good reason. it's a thrill coaster with a bunch of loops !! not the most thrilling coaster i've been on (see: Aftershock) but super fun nonetheless. i will say that this coaster likes to jostle your brain around a LOT.
- Klondike Gold Rusher - another ride that feels like you can fall out of at any minute, but a personal favorite of mine
- Timberhawk: Ride of Prey - every park has to have a rickety old wooden coaster, and this is exactly that.
- Disk'O - this thing barely feels legal. there's no straps so your "seatbelt" is basically this piece of plastic that gets shoved as far as it physically can against your back and locked into place. super fun tho, 10/10
- Brain Drain - not the highest drop tower i've been on (see: Panic Plunge but a nice ride inbetween thrill and chill
- Timber Axe - MY FAVORITE RIDE OF ALL TIME !!!! ever since the Ring of Fire shut down this thing has been my fix for rides that spin you upside down and make you feel like you'll fall out.
- Lumberjack Falls - the quintessential log flume ride, very refreshing but the line is always super long
