2. How long have you been making websites? i got serious about it in 2023, so two years now
3. And what got you into the hobby? i saw a tumblr post about web revival and it inspired me to make my own neocities where i could archive everything in my life
4. What kind of website are you most interested in? anything personal
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along? hahaha, no... i throw shit at the wall and see what sticks
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations. i get most of my inspiration from my neocities moots, who you can find here
7. What's your favourite part about making websites? i love how much you can customize it and how personal you can make it, and i love that anyone on the internet can just stumblr upon it. plus being (mostly) free from the censorship of most social medias.
8. And the thing you struggle with the most? i want to make widgets that utilize javascript but im too lazy to learn java.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones? each page subject has it's own style (e.g. all my music pages have a gothic theme)
10. How confident are you with CSS? a lot more than when i started
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>? nope and i have in fact scrubbed it from this survey
12. What is your favourite HTML element? i love using <ul> even if it can be kind of difficult

19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites? i enjoy looking at them, but i feel like they can kind of be more focused on nostalgiabaiting than actually participate in old web hobbies (fanlistings, physical media, blogging, etc.)
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check? not in the eyes of the lord...
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners? LOVEEEEEEE them
22. What do you think of button walls in particular? a great way to find other web designers
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different? i might've made the mainpage with more of a "mining" theme, but it's too iconic to change now. maybe idk
24. Are you envious of other people's websites? sometimes i get a bit jealous of people who can use javascript elements, but i like the way my site is
25. What text editor do you use? the built in neocities one like a bitch

27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host? half ad half. real big photos i host on postimages
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate? ive never used nekoweb so im team neocities all the way
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up? i couldn't even begin to guess
30. Do you keep local backups of your files? the important ones, yeah. i also archive a lot of my assets on the Internet Archive
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites? both !! they both have their charm :)
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious? my site has a "signature color" (#bc210a)
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why? there's been periods where i haven't been as diligent updating, but i don't think i could ever quit

44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists? usually i watch a TV show or put on a YT video

49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work? i think so, although i hate having to cross-browser check elements
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid? bringing the 2000s opinions back to the future (transphobia, fatphobia, etc.)
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more? using #id tags with your divs was next level for me
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure? i only really use semantic html
53. Do you consider different browsers? not unless i use those browsers

do you prefer listening to albums or playlists? i think they both serve their own purpose. i like finding songs with lyrics that have similar themes, in my interpretation, and i think playlists are great for that. but albums are like a playlist 100% created by the artist, so i find a lot of joy in listening to them and experienceing the album as the band wanted.

do you care more about lyrics or sound? lyrics by a lot. a lot of my favorite bands (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Green Day, a lot of 90s grunge bands) are amazing lyricists. and, me being a big old poetry nerd, eat that shit up. obviously the music matters too. but i can be more forgiving of a lacking sound than a lacking message.
